The Kama Sutra

The Kama Sutra is an ancient Hindu text, which consists of seven sections, devoted to the secrets of achieving sensual and sexual pleasure (Kama).  One of these seven sections, called “On sexual union,” is devoted to the different sexual positions and is the section, which the Kama Sutra is mostly known for.

The first translations of the Kama Sutra were printed in the early 19th century and some later translations included only the “On sexual union” chapter, presenting as the whole Kama Sutra. The Kama Sutra is considered the surviving part of the original Kama Shastra, the Rule of Love, and offers guidance on wholesome living, love, and marriage. Some of the customs and practices, listed in the Kama Sutra are now dated, but there are many fundamental truths and some practical pointers, which married women and men, as well as couples could definitely use.

Even though centuries old, the text is widely read and popular even today as it touches on great number of aspects, relating to pleasure and sexuality.

The chapter on sexual positions, especially when accompanied with illustrations, is an ideal source for inspiration and it could help lovers keep their physical relationship alive.
